On October 6, 2015 in Lima Peru, this WikiStage WBG Lima will explore the broad theme of “Social Inclusion.” In 2 tightly choreographed hours, this special event will be an inspirational sequence of talks, performance and films, which features presenters drawn from a range of disciplines and who are creative and original in their presentations. Dramatic transitions have reshaped the contours of countries and regions over the last few decades. These transformational shifts create new realities as entire societies are re-shaped. They also have an effect on attitudes and perceptions. Since people act on the basis of how they feel, these attitudes and perceptions matter for inclusion. Feelings of being included and respected by others, or being heard, are central to the opportunities people have, the way in which they take part in society, and the way they are treated. Social inclusion is important for ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity. The program will include 4 sessions and about 10 invited presenters from the Latin America and globally, ranging from an award-winning Venezuelan jazz musician to a world-renowned advocate for the rights of the disabled. It will be livestreamed in Spanish and English. #inclusionmatters
